History

The Montecristo No.4 cigar, as the name suggests, was the fourth in the original Montecristo Cigars line created by the Alonso Menendez Company in the 1940s. The name Montecristo is derived from the protagonist of the famous novel ‘The Count of Montecristo.’ This cigar line grew in popularity during the 1970s and 1980s and quickly became one of Cuba’s top lines.

It is now the world’s most popular handmade cigar. The construction is firm and well-made, as one would expect from a fine Cuban cigar, and it requires at least three years to mature.

Tasting notes

When lit, the cigar emits a smooth and lush smoke that is pungent with roasted-coffee, caramel, vanilla, and cocoa aromas that blend seamlessly with the medium-strength tobacco.
